HELPING KIDS IN KENYA
About Our Education Initiatives
For many children in Kenya, the opportunity for quality education is only a dream. Mercy’s Smile provides academic scholarships for impoverished students to attend secondary school in the hopes of transforming lives and breaking the cycle of poverty.
The Mercy’s Smile Scholarship Program partners with the students’ caregivers to provide funds for tuition, mentorship, and encouragement through camps and school visits. Our students are required to adhere to academic and behavioral standards, as well as participate in community service.
Together, we can restore hope for students in Kenya and help to launch them into a better future for themselves and their families.
OVERVIEW
Our Education Process
Application Submission
Students in need submit application including grades, community leader recommendation, and essay.
Candidate Selection
Board reviews applications, interviews top candidates, and prays about who to accept into the program
Ongoing Mentorship
Board members and Kenya team engages families and students through phone calls, holiday lunches, and mentorship camps
Scholarship Requirement
Students complete and submit account of volunteer hours, grade and conduct report, and essays
Graduation
Students graduate from high school and go on to pursue a university degree or a career
